Tiffany Walks for the Cure
Susan G Komen 3 Day Breast Cancer Walk
Tiffany had the opportunity to train and contribute to the research of breast cancer. She walked over 700 miles from April 2008 to November 2008 in preparation for a three day, 60 mile walk. Raising over $2,000 dollars each Tiffany and two close friends worked hard for the Susan G Komen breast cancer funds. Joined by about 3,000 others she walked 20 miles, three days in a row to support the families affected by breast cancer. Tiffany reports that she had the time of her life and was so overcome with emotion for all the love people show for those affected with breast cancer. Tiffany and her friends plan on doing the walk again in 2010.
Thousands of women and men come together, each raising money for Susan G. Komen for the Cure and the National Philanthropic Trust Breast Cancer Fund. Then they take their commitment to end breast cancer one step further and walk 60 miles over the course of three days. Eighty-five percent of the net proceeds of this event go to Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Every advancement in breast cancer research, treatment, education and prevention in the last 25 years has been touched by a Komen for the Cure grant. The remaining fifteen percent of net funds goes to the National Philanthropic Trust Breast Cancer Fund to provide a permanent endowment for ongoing support of breast cancer initiatives. The San Diego 3 day event raised over $11.2 million for the cause.
